Before the arrival of President Estrada in New York, the FACES chapter would like to distribute the small ribbons and safety pins to all those interested, especially the attendees of the dinner/dance scheduled on the night of July 29, 2000 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. "Our aim is to bring attention to the medical urgency and environmental tragedy of the contamination at the former bases. The ribbons will ensure that the faces and realities of the toxic waste victims remain in our minds and hearts as we each go about our daily tasks," said Amy Toledo, co-coordinator of the NY/NJ FACES Chapter. The New York Chapter of Filipino/American Coalition for Environmental Solutions hopes that wearing a green ribbon will help us Filipino Americans and Americans remember to do our part in bringing justice to the victims of toxic waste contamination. These ribbons will also display Filipino American solidarity and support for the Philippine officials who are doing their part to bring clean water and air to the communities effected by the U.S. military toxic waste. We invite all readers to join us in this Green Ribbon Campaign by helping to distribute the ribbons or simply wearing a small green ribbon on your lapel. If you would like to take part, please feel free call or email to request a ribbon or help distribute the ribbons in your area. To Participate
