3. CALENDAR: SUMMER 2001
July 13: Fundraising Contacts Deadline NY/NJ is
fundraising along with every FACES chapter in the nation. We're
sending letters to our friends and contacts for their support.
Hopefully, the letters, describing the issue, our goals, and accomplishments
will bring broader awareness and support for the issue. If you'd
like to add the name of a friend or contact, please send his.her
snail mail address to Crissi at cpablo@g... by July 13. Salamat
Crissi!

with fundraising letters on July 17. It's not really kamayan but
we can still stuff and tsimis!! If you don't feel comfortable
giving out names of friends for fundraising letters, this is still
a great time to help out and get to know some FACES folk!
July 20, 7 p.m. at the Asian American Writers' Workshop
FACES NY/NJ is co-sponsoring the 3rd Annual Bamboo Girl 'Zine
Benefit. "Bamboo girl" is a 'zine written and created by a Filipina,
who also happens to be a paid member of FACES. Her newest issue
will contain an interview with Christina Leano, FACES former national
director. In support and solidarity, FACES NY/NJ will be present
at her
July 20 fundraiser/magazine release. No commitments,
calling, or cooking- just stop by and show a sista some support!
$5 suggested donations (there will be light food, refreshments,
and live performance pieces)
July 31, FACES TEACH-IN at (you guessed it) Asian
American Writers' Workshop from 7-9 pm. Learn more about the bases
issue at our FACES teach-in. This is a time for new members to
learn about the issue and ask questions and older members to bring
new perspectives and flava's to the discussion.
August 3rd
Seed Money Party with CAAAV (Formerly the Committee Against Anti-Asian
Violence) Venue TBA, in the E. Village. We're being allowed to
piggy-back this fundraiser for CAAAV's huge 15th Anniversary Celebration
(which will include some amazing folks: Ishle, Staceyann Chin?,
Yuri Kochiyama, Angela Davis, Francis Wong and more...)
Our responsibility as Co-Sponsor is just making/selling food for
around 100-200 people. All food proceeds go directly to FACES.
It would also be to our benefit to publicize the event as well.
Susie distribute flyers. (Committee: Susan, Amy, Rolly and Fundraising
Committee: Lolita, Marc G., Angelica? Barney? and anyone else
interested we should pick a time for a committee meeting at the
July 17th mailing party at AAWW.)
